THIRD ANNUAL BEER 5K FUNDRAISER
Annual Hops for Hope 5K Beer Run/Walk to Benefit local charity
Project Mobility to be held Saturday, May 18th 2019

St. Charles, IL and surrounding area – Project Mobility will host its third annual fundraising 5K fun run featuring craft beer throughout the course on Saturday, May 18th to raise funds to further their mission of providing the freedom of mobility to children, adults and wounded soldiers with disabilities thought adaptive cycling. The average cost of an adaptive bicycle is $3,000 - $5,000. Project Mobility fundraisers are needed in order to giveaway this assistive technology to families with numerous ongoing medical bills who otherwise could not afford this joy most of us get to enjoy everyday.

The event will be held at Mount Saint Mary Park in St. Charles, Illinois. It will include 6 craft beer stops throughout the course for the runners/walkers to sample along their way. The course will run through Wheeler Park in Geneva and head back to St. Charles. Craft breweries will be Solemn Oath Brewery, Penrose Brewing Company, Forge Brewhouse, D & G Brewing Company, BBGB Brewery and Hop Farm and Riverland’s Brewing Company. Following the 5K will be an Awards Ceremony with live entertainment, beer, food, local businesses, announcement of winners and Project Mobility’s Adaptive Bike Giveaway. Registration/Check-in begins at 10:00 am and the race begins promptly at 12:00 pm.

Benefiting local charity, Project Mobility is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in St. Charles, Illinois. Project Mobility is the charitable arm of The Bike Rack. Project Mobility’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children, adults and wounded soldiers with disabilities. They provide the services, resources, and equipment needed to promote better health, independence, and the freedom of mobility through adaptive cycling.

“Hops for Hope 5K has been a huge hit since we introduced the concept in 2017. There are no other 5K’s in the area that have the twist we offer! We appreciate the city’s support throughout the years and we are honored that the Mayor even participates each year! If you want to take a casual stroll with your friends or try and get your best time, Hops for Hope 5K is the event for you! You will enjoy sampling craft beer throughout downtown St. Charles and Geneva all while supporting a great cause.” Event Director, Katherine Reda

One event attendee shared “I loved the adaptive bike presentation. It was heart warming and it reminded me where our money was going. It was also nice to see a physical example of what our money was going towards.” Another attendee said “I am NOT a runner, but rather a beer drinker. I took it as a challenge to complete the 5K. Although I was not able to run the entire 3+ miles, I did make an effort. I trained for almost a month. I tend to enjoy a good challenge!” A third commented, “I thoroughly enjoyed myself, which, as a serious long distance runner, means a lot since I typically take races very seriously. But this was a fun run and I had a blast letting loose and just being able to enjoy the time I had with my friends.”

There are a variety of sponsorships still available. The deadline is April 18th and Project Mobility is looking for additional volunteers. Registration is open now, register today before the event sells out!
