Description
"A Sense of Where You Are - Inspiring Civic Engagement for the Preservation of History"
Dr. Kathryn Holliday
Randall Biallas Professor of Historic Preservation and American Architectural History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
This talk will address current opportunities and challenges in historic preservation, focusing especially on the need to bring new voices to the table and expand storytelling to incorporate the recent past. Speaking from the perspective of an educator working with students, I will share examples and anecdotes intended to catalyze conversations about strategy and policy at the local level. I am also particularly interested in hearing from you and your audience about what they see as working - and not working - in preservation in your community and any opportunities that students may have to learn from those issues.
This is a FREE event. Due to space limitations, please register in advance below.
