Description
Explore your practice in the context of the Yoga Sutra, the authoritative text for yoga. The ten sutras on asana, pranayama, and pratyahara invite us to experience stability and ease in inner and outer alignment, surrender into effortlessness, and transcend the limitations of physical awareness. This approach to asana opens the door to awareness of breath, or prana, and enlivens body and mind, until the boundary between inner and outer softens, the inner space of the body opens, and the mind finds its inner resting place. We’ll see and experience how asana and pranayama can be the launching pad for the other experiences and practices described by the Yoga Sutra. We will enjoy a combination of asana, breath work, inner focus, and discussion to help you refine your practice and strengthen the foundation for all aspects of spiritual practice.
Join us to
• Thoroughly investigate ten sutras on asana and pranayama
• Explore the play of opposites in asana as a means of perfecting alignment and creating inner space
• Discover your core alignment and strength in standing and sitting postures, and learn to use that stability and ease in other postures
• Empower awareness of inner space of the body through pranayama
• Draw parallels between asana practice and other aspects of mental and emotional alignment
