LIMANI PORT OF GREECE RESTAURANT
CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING IN ST. CHARLES
Local Dignitaries to Attend August 29 Ceremony
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Aug. 15, 2013) – St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina, other city officials and business community leaders plan to attend an afternoon ceremony on Aug. 29 celebrating the grand opening of Limani Port of Greece Restaurant.
Offering authentic Greek and Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on freshness, Limani Port of Greece will celebrate its official opening following a three-month “soft launch” period during which its kitchen and dining room operations were fine-tuned while serving the public. Guests at the Aug. 29 ceremony will sample the restaurant’s extensive menu at a buffet luncheon in Limani’s banquet room.
Limani, located at 3755 E. Main St. across from the Charlestown Mall, is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
Limani offers a unique mix of classic Greek dishes and seasonal specialties along with a full bar including imported Greek wines and liquors. Fresh daily specials typically include authentic Greek lamb, chicken and fish recipes.
“Our customers will enjoy a true Greek dining experience, featuring both classic and unusual dishes made of the freshest meats, fish, vegetables and other ingredients,” said Chris Lambropoulos, son of the restaurant’s owner, Peter Lambropoulos. “Everything is prepared fresh daily.”
Experienced chef, Vassilis “Bill” Dimitrakopoulos, runs the kitchen at Limani, personally selecting daily specials and supervising the preparation of all menu items. Included in his 15 years of experience as a chef are 10 years spent at the famed Pegasus restaurant in Chicago’s Greektown on Halsted St. A native of Greece, Dimitrakopoulos has lived in the Chicago area since 1990.
“We have a commitment to use fresh food, prepared naturally,” Chef Bill explained. “For example, our fish and meats are delivered every day, either from the Chicago Fulton Street Market or flown in from the Mediterranean. We only use the finest olive oils and natural spices.” Already, he said, the grilled tilapia and sea bass – as well as traditional Greek specialties – have become favorites among Limani’s patrons.
Limani’s kitchen staff also prepares fresh desserts every day, including its two Greek specialties, baklava and galaktoburiko (a cake made from coarse-ground semolina wheat).
Banquet room accommodates large groups
Limani offers private parties the use of its large banquet room for lunch and dinner meetings and receptions. The room may accommodate groups of up to 100.
Lambropoulus said Limani looks forward to serving both private parties and local business groups, and noted that the restaurant will work with groups to create special menu selections.
