Description
Sensible Threadz, a Discount Retail & Resale Store, located at 208 S. Kirk Road in St. Charles, to host a Holiday Season Collection for Lazarus House in St. Charles. During the Month of December, its’ customers can bring in New or Gently Used Sweatshirts and Sweatpants Sets, and they will receive an in-store credit between $2.50 - $5.00.
Due to a growing increase in the number of individuals currently being served through Lazarus House this past year, we felt it was only beneficial to help where help was truly needed. If you would like to be an angel this holiday season and can spare a pair of sweats to help a less fortunate individual, we will be collecting all sizes from Infant through Adults. The sweats will then be given to individuals who come to the shelter. This allows them to have a clean set of clothing to wear while their others are laundered, or replaced for better items. Please see the attached article for their current circumstances: (http://stcharles-il.patch.com/articles/tough-times-lazarus-house-says-nearly-100-more-woman-children-in-shelter-than-last-year).
Lazarus House is a community emergency Living Center serving men, women and children connected to the school districts of St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia and western rural Kane County who are homeless or are at risk. A safe shelter, food, and support services are available. They are the only Emergency Shelter serving mid Kane County open 365 days a year. Emergency shelter staff is available 24/7, and can be reached at 630-587-2144.
Since launching Sensible Threadz on November 1st, 2010, the store has supported many local Community Shelters and Organizations such as:
<<<Lazarus House in St Charles in December 2010, with a Gift Collection for the children at the shelter, Northern IL Food Bank for Food Collections and Cash Donations, Conley Outreach in Elburn and The Life Center in Elgin during February & March 2011 with Clothing Donations, Inter Faith Food Pantry in Bataviain May 2011, with a Bedding and Towel Drive, Literacy Volunteers of IL in August 2011 with a Book Drive for Literacy Programs in our community, and Mutual Ground, in Aurora in October 2011 for a Coat Drive.
The Sensible Threadz’ philosophy is all about maintaining a “Win-Win Community Approach for Everyone”. During this hard economic time period it has also assisted its’ customers in saving substantial clothing costs by allowing them to bring in their used private label clothing items that they have and they can either receive cash or a double in-store credit to apply to other items in the store. Some customers have actually walked out of the store paying absolutely nothing for their items by taking advantage of this store concept. The store also carries over 15 different local artisan hand-made and custom made accessory items. This allows members of our community to benefit by having their items viewed locally and gives them an opportunity to have a supplementary income.
Any questions regarding this collection can be referred to Carol Frey, Owner at 630-587-0736. The Store hours of operation include 11:00a.m.-8:00p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10:30-5:00 on Saturdays. You can also find out more about the business by visiting us online at www.sensiblethreadz.com, facebook, or twitter.
