About Us

The City of St. Charles, Illinois, is guided by the four driving principles in its Mission: Heritage. Community. Service. Opportunity. Together, these create a thriving environment for people who live or visit here, and for businesses to prosper. St. Charles has gained national recognition as a family-friendly town and wide acclaim for its architecture, living up to its nickname Pride of the Fox. Conveniently located 35 miles west of Chicago, St. Charles is home to 33,000 residents and a balanced mix of nearly 2,000 businesses that employ more than 18,000 people.

The business community is comprised of local and national companies, and features a large manufacturing community. The city is assisted by an active Chamber of Commerce and the Business Alliance to drive economic growth to make the St. Charles Community a destination where people, businesses and tourism thrive.

St. Charles offers 2,200 guest rooms and 282,000 sq. ft. of combined indoor convention space, a full service resort, nationally-acclaimed conference center, vintage riverfront hotel, boutique and antique shopping, national retail options, several live performance theaters, palate-pleasing dining, public art, annual festivals and plenty of free parking.

There are nearly 33 acres of park land per 1,000 persons. The St. Charles Park District is recognized nationally for its service to special needs patrons, opportunity of cultural art experiences, highly ranked golf courses, parks/trails and aquatics.
