About Us
Pizzo & Associates, Ltd. is an award-winning leader in sustainable development and professional ecological restoration services for public and private lands. We are committed to the stewardship of our shared natural habitat, and recognize the need for conservation, preservation, and restoration as we work towards the beautification and revitalization of our natural ecosystems. We are the only firm in Illinois that offers all aspects of the creation and restoration of natural areas: consultation, design, installation, stewardship / maintenance and a native plant nursery.
Ecological Restoration is: The cultural, societal, regulatory, and natural facets of a site being simultaneously restored. What that means to you and I is that we do not just restore the plants and animals, we work within the cultural and societal norms of the site, and are compliant with all regulations.
How we do this using native plants:
- Stormwater Management -because of their deep roots puts stormwater into the ground eliminating run-off
- Erosion Control - creating a stabilized, native plant buffer will serve as a line of defense against water
- Regulatory Compliance - a successful project entails knowledge of all regulations for each phase
- Reduce Landscape Maintenance Costs - converting areas to a sustainable prairie saves thousands of dollars
- Increase Aesthetic Value - natural landscapes bring many other aesthetics and species not normally seen as part of a traditional landscape
- Solve Goose Problems - native vegetation will discourage geese from colonizing around bodies of water
